Saalik is a non-profit organisation, established to address the needs of the community of Sheffield with educational, sports & social programmes.
Saalik aims to enrich lives with Sacred knowledge, to improve misconceptions and misunderstandings. To improve wellbeing and community cohesion with partners in the community, regardless of affiliation. It also identifies the needs of the women within its vicinity, who form the backbone of the community and have an increasing desire to be involved in education, sports and social welfare without compromising their values and beliefs.
Saalik is an inclusive service that knows no bounds, and is open for all. It has been formed to be in service to the community, to be a place of respite, to address their concerns, their needs and their interests.
Our Purpose has been derived from the following Saheeh Hadith:
“'Whoever traverses a path in order to seek knowledge, God will facilitate for him, due to it, a path to Paradise.”
[ Muslim, no.2699]
We therefore aim to revive Islamic teachings in accordance to the Quran and the noble Sunnah of our beloved Messenger Muhammad (may peace and blessing be upon Him).
Our main purpose is to educate children as well as adults in the basics of the Islamic sciences with a particular focus on the Quran, Akhlaq (manners) and Fiqh (Islamic rulings) and equip them with this relevant knowledge so they are confident in practicing Islam in this current climate as well as prospering in their worldly affairs.
Our vision is to make our students a true Saalik, so they are able to live acording to the Sunnah of the Prophet (may blessings and peace be upon Him) and to follow both the outer and the inner path of Islam virtuously. By doing so they will become positive contributors to those around them and most importantly deal with the issues that afflict our communities.
We believe that it is due to a lack of Islamic education and exposure to the culture and teachings of our Noble Prophet Muhammad (may blessings and peace be upon him), that the status quo of the Muslims has deteriorated in our communities; we aim to eradicate this with a strong foundation of Islamic teachings for both adults and children.
